Earlier, on November 3, German Health Minister Jens Spahn said that Germany was facing the fourth wave of the coronavirus pandemic. He also expressed dissatisfaction with the way the vaccination campaign is going on in the country. According to him, in Germany so far only 2 million people have received a booster vaccine. At the same time, Vladimir Chizhov, Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the European Union (EU), announced on November 2 that Russia and the European Medicines Agency (EMA) would soon be able to reach a common understanding of mutual recognition of certificates of vaccination against coronavirus if a number of agreements were reached.

China is suffering its most widespread Covid-19 outbreak since Wuhan
China is suffering its most widespread Covid-19 outbreak since the virus first emerged at the beginning of the pandemic in Wuhan in 2019. The country’s new locally transmitted Covid cases have spiked to a near three-month high amid what the Chinese government called a ‘serious’ new outbreak of the highly infectious Delta variant. Now, more than 600 locally-transmitted cases have been found in 19 of the country’s 31 provinces, reports Bloomberg. The National Health Commission confirmed on Wednesday 93 new local symptomatic cases for Tuesday, up from 54 a day earlier and the highest daily count since August 9 at the peak of China’s last major outbreak. Most of the local cases were found in Heihe, a city in the northern province of Heilongjiang, where 35 infections were recorded on Tuesday. Three new provinces detected cases: central Chongqing, Jiangsu and Henan, reported Bloomberg. The spread and rise in Covid infections comes despite the Chinese government enforcing tighter curbs to contain the cases. Impossible to control COVID-19 transmissions – Russian expert
MOSCOW, October 29. /TASS/. The time frames surrounding coronavirus becoming a seasonal disease are impossible to predict, Deputy Director of the Russian Central Research Institute of Epidemiology Alexander Gorelov said on Friday. “It is impossible to set any clear <…> deadlines that we can fight this infection by this date and it becomes seasonal. The process is multifactorial. <…> From my point of view, it is impossible to say in a specific time frame that tomorrow or a day after tomorrow, or in the foreseeable future the infection will be seasonal,” he said at the Eurasian Economic Forum. Gorelov added that there is no antiviral treatment in the world that can regulate the infection process. “On the other hand, if there is a vaccine, only 10% of the population has been vaccinated against the coronavirus infection. Do not forget about the phenomenon of the virus transmission to a nonimmune organism. The changes most often occur in the non-immune organism, as well as all its mutations that humanity faces over and over again,” he said. Earlier, chief of Russia’s sanitary watchdog, Anna Popova, said that the coronavirus would become a seasonal infection, like the flu.

COVID boosters available to all Japanese citizens – report
Japan’s Ministry of Health has decided to offer COVID-19 vaccine boosters to all individuals who have already received two doses, after initially prioritizing frontline health workers and high-risk individuals, the Japanese press agency Jiji reported on Thursday. According to previous reports by Japanese media, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida’s plan involves administering the booster shots starting from December, in order to prevent the re-emergence of the virus as the country slowly goes back to pre-pandemic levels of activity. The Health Ministry’s timeline, which originally predicted distributing the third shot among those who have gone at least eight months since receiving their second dose and individuals at a higher risk of infection, is now altered to include all citizens.
